Taylor Vanasse, winner of the 2011 National
Aboriginal Day Live Flag Contest
Seventeen-year-old Taylor Vanasse’s design was chosen from a total of 208 entries receive from across Canada. Her artwork incorporated vibrant symbols that represented what she learned in her Aboriginal Peoples in Canada class taught at her local high school.

Aboriginal Day Live Flag Contest
The winner of APTN’s fourth annual National Aboriginal Day Live Flag Contest was Dylan Willet of Pikwakanagan First Nation in Golden Lake, Ontario. His winning design which included different symbols to represent Aboriginal Peoples as a whole, was chosen from a total of 254 entries from across Canada.

Aboriginal Day Live Flag Contest
Amber Helmer of Cornwall, Ontario, was the winner of APTN’s third annual National Aboriginal Day Live Flag Contest. Her winning design, entitled “Connected”, was chosen from a total of 272 entries received from across Canada.

Aboriginal Day Live Flag Contest
The winning entry in 2008, created by Daphne Kaye from the Cowessess First Nation in southeast Saskatcheqan, was a vibrant and colourful design that included symbolism from the Metis, First Nations and Inuit cultures. Her entry was one of 66 received from young artists all across the country

Nicole Chang, winner of the 2007
Aboriginal Day Live Flag Contest
Nicole Chang from Yellowknife, NWT, was the winner of the inaugural Aboriginal Day Live Flag Contest in 2007. Her distinct and colourful flag design was chosen from a total of 67 entries from across Canada.
